The Kansas City metropolitan area has an approximate population of 2 million. Its economy is both stable and diverse and includes many nationally known and publicly held companies like H&R Block, Black & Veach Engineers, Hallmark Cards and United Telecommunications. The city has more boulevards than Paris, France and more fountains than any other city in North America. In fact, Rome, Italy is the only city in the world with more fountains.

Kansas City has an average year round temperature of 54.4 degrees and the distinctiveness of its seasons are joyous and robust. Kansas City is in the Central time zone and has much more topography then a chance encounter might reveal. The average elevation is between 700 and 1100 feet above sea level and hills and wooded dales are much more commonplace than the flat prairie lands of western Kansas. A short drive in almost any direction can place you in "the country" and away from the city clamor.

Kansas City’s professional sports teams include the one-time Super bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs and the 1985 World Champion Kansas City Royals. The Truman Sports complex which houses both the Chiefs and Royals (separate stadiums) is said to be among the finest in the world. The Blades a semi-pro hockey team and the Attack soccer teams both play at Kemper arena. Kansas City is also home to the Kansas City Explorers professional tennis team.

Kansas City is one of the country’s finest treasures. Metropolitan and inviting, its sits in the heartland of America and boasts sophistication in a hometown atmosphere. Known as the "Barbecue Capital of the World", Kansas City hosts the largest barbecue contest in the world with over 200 entries from around the world. Calvin Trillin a popular food columnist said "not all the best restaurants are in Kansas City, just the top for or five."

Kansas City is also home of one of the nations first shopping centers. Built in 1922 the Country Club Plaza is located 5 miles south of downtown. The Plaza has been compared to the elegance of New York’s Fifth Avenue and Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. The Plaza contains more than 150 of finest shops in the nation.

Starlight Theater, the State Ballet, the Lyric Opera and the Kansas City Symphony and of course Kansas City’s famous jazz tradition make "KC" a mecca for the music and performing arts lovers. The Kansas City Art Institute and the Nelson Atkins Museum house many important works of local and international artists. Johnson County, Once a predominantly rural county Johnson County has become one of the hottest local economies in the nation and a major force in the regional economy of the heartland of America. The county’s population is generally younger, better educated and high disposable income characterizes many of its households. Johnson County’s per capita effective buying income ranks 25th among all 3,140 counties in the US. Over 90% of the Johnson County population over 25 received a high school degree or higher according to the 1990 census and 40% of the population had received a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Johnson County has added nearly 10,000 residents every year for the past decade and by the year 2000 the State of Kansas predicts the population of the county will reach nearly 500,000. According to the US Department of Commerce, Johnson County gained over 5500 businesses between 1981 and 1991 which represents an increase of over 45%. In the same period the number of employees grew by over 70%.

Johnson County is a well kept secret with affordable housing, low crime rates , short commute times and many recreational and entertainment amenities. The National Association of Home Builders ranks the KC metro area the 20th most affordable housing market in the US.

An important criterion for many home buyers is the quality of schools that serve the community in which they live. The Johnson County school systems including the Shawnee Mission, Blue Valley and Olathe districts boast that over 80% of their graduates attend college. The public library system is extensive and the parks and recreation department is one of the best in the country. Residents throughout the county have easy access to downtown, Kansas City International Airport, and all parts of the metro area thanks to a superior highway system

Fairway, population 4,000+, a ‘close to the Plaza’ residential neighborhood. Children attend Shawnee Mission Schools.

Leawood, population 24,000+, features both established and newly developed neighborhoods residential communities. Students attend Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission School District schools.

Lenexa, population 37,000+, is a fast growing city experiencing both residential and industrial growth. Lenexa has homes in all prices ranges, with students attending Shawnee Mission schools.

Merriam, population 12,000+, is a friendly, revitalized city which boasts a new regional mall. Children attend Shawnee Mission Schools.

Mission, population 9,000+. The city got its name from the Shawnee Indian Mission originally built in the area and is in the Shawnee Mission School District.

Mission Hills, population 3,000+, is an exclusive "bedroom community". With country club golf courses, large lots with mature trees and estate homes of the sometimes famous, Mission Hills has neither shopping malls, industrial areas nor business districts. Children attend Shawnee Mission Schools.

Mission Woods, population 200+, is the smallest incorporated city in Johnson County. Walking distance to the Country Club Plaza, yet children attend Shawnee Mission Schools.

Olathe, population 75,000+, is the county seat and one of the county's fastest growing areas. Thriving Olathe has a diverse industrial area and children attend the city’s national award-winning school district.

Overland Park,  population 130,000+, is the second largest city in the State of Kansas. Johnson County Community College known for its growing adult education courses. Children attend schools in Olathe, Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission School Districts.

Prairie Village, population 23,000+, is truly a village city where most everything necessary is a walk away. Children attend Shawnee Mission Schools.

Roeland Park, population 7,000+, Children attend Shawnee Mission Schools.

Shawnee, population 44,000+, Varied topography and over a dozen parks and much undeveloped land is Shawnee. Children attend Shawnee Mission Schools.

Spring Hill, population 2,300+, Rural countryside and a half hour or so to downtown. Children attend schools in the Spring Hill and Blue Valley School Districts.

Westwood, population 1,700+, Close to the Country Club Plaza. Children attend Shawnee Mission schools.

Bonner Springs, population 6,800+ is a fast growing rural community home to Sandstone AmphitheaterThe Agricultural Hall of Fame and the annual Renaissance Festival. Children attend Bonner Springs Unified Scholl district 204.

Missouri:

Jackson County is the industrial and business hub of Greater Kansas City.

Blue Springs, population 45,000+, children attend Blue Springs R-4 School District.

Grandview, population 25,000+, is located in the southwest corner of Jackson County. Children attend schools in the Consolidated School District #4

Independence, population 100,000+, is the hometown of President Harry S. Truman, as well as the Truman home and Truman Historical Library. Children attend schools in the Fort Osage, Blue Springs R4, Kansas City, Missouri, and Independence School Districts.

Lee's Summit, population 60,000+, Children attend Lee’s Summit schools

Raytown, population 30,000+, children attend Raytown School District Schools.

Gladstone, population 26,000+, children attend schools in the Kansas City North School District.

Liberty, population 22,000+, is home to William Jewell College. Children attend the Liberty School District.

Parkville, population 2,500+, Is home historic Park College. Students attend Park Hill School District schools.

Smithville, population 1,900+, is located near Smithville Lake. Children attend the Smithville R-11 School District.
